WARWICK CASTLE here i have the answers to my worksheet

The original Warwick Castle was built in 1068 by William the Conqueror , who was the first Norman King of England, reigning from 1066 until his death in 1087.

The river that is next to Warwick Castle is called Avon river , also known as the Warwickshire Avon or Shakespeare’s Avon . It ‘s origin is in Northamptonshire and runs across the english Midlands.

The Warwick Trebuchet is the biggest catapult in all the World. It is not so old, it was built just eight years ago in 2005 , and since then it has been shot at least 6.500 times.

Fulke Greville was an english poet  and playwright that was born in Warwickshire (1554-1628). A curious thing about him is that he was planning to go with Sir Frances Drake to his occidental expedition , but Queen Elizabeth the first didnt let him finally go. His main work is Philip Sidney ‘s biography ( another english writer and militar ).

Oliver Cromwell was an english military and political leader , later lord protector of the Commonwealth of Scotland and Ireland and , of course , of England. Cromwell married Elizabeth Bourchier in 1620 . Elizabeth's father, Sir James Bourchier, was a London leather merchant who owned extensive lands in Essex and had strong connections with puritan gentry families there. The marriage brought Cromwell into contact with Oliver St John and with leading members of the London merchant community, and behind them the influence of the Earls of  Warwick and Holland. Cromwell is one of the most controversial figures in the British Isles considered as a military dictator by Winston Churchill and his measures against Catholics in Scotland and Ireland have been characterised as genocidal, but he is considered as a hero of liberty for others.

In the ‘’fun’’ sheet the King in the photograph is Henry The Eighth. This King was so famous because he separated the English Church from the Roman Catholic Church creating the Anglican Church , because he wanted to  get what is called now divorced , from his wife Catalina de Aragón.
Henry the Eighth had six wives in total, and only Jane Seymour( the third wife) gave him a boy decendant (Prince Edward) , but he died at the age of fifteen, the others gave him only daughters. His wives' pattern of pregnancies and his mental deterioration have led some to suggest that the king may have McLeod syndrome ( a genetic condition).
Warwick castle is one of the few places that nowadays makes you feel like your are in the medieval England .Usually the stereotype that you have ,when someone says ‘’medieval England’’ ,are big rock castles , armors ,swords ,axes ,bows ,archers ,horses ,catapults ,etc.
That is exactly what you can appreciate in Warwick Castle , probably is the most big still existing exponent of that.
It was restaured a lot of times ,and I find that  is really important ,because honestly , England needs to take care of this beautiful nacional heritage.
